Hiking
Hike Details
Season: June – October (weather and snow conditions permitting)
Difficulty: Suitable for all ages
Distance: 9 km one way
This scenic circular hike takes you across three of the most popular summits in the area: Hafjelltoppen (1,065 m), Slåseterfjell (1,064 m) and Nevelfjell (1,089 m). Offering varied terrain and spectacular mountain views, it is one of the best ways to experience the landscapes surrounding Pellestova.
The trail begins right outside Pellestova and climbs to Hafjelltoppen, the first summit of the day. From there, retrace your steps for a short distance before following the signposted trail down to the large car park near Ilsetra.
From Ilsetra, a marked trail leads onwards to Slåseterfjell and then to Nevelfjell, the highest point of the route. Take time to enjoy the panoramic views and sign the summit guestbook before continuing down the main trail back towards Pellestova.
The circular route is approximately 9 km long and typically takes around 3 hours to complete, excluding breaks.
Three summits, endless views and some of the finest hiking in Øyerfjellet.

Recommended Clothing & Equipment
Mountain weather can change quickly, so it is important to be prepared for conditions that may differ from those at the start of your hike.
We recommend dressing according to the three-layer principle, or at the very least carrying extra layers in your backpack. This approach helps you stay warm and comfortable while allowing you to adjust your clothing as temperatures and weather conditions change throughout the day.
The base layer should consist of wool or technical thermal underwear. The middle layer can be a fleece or down jacket for insulation, while the outer layer should be windproof and water-resistant to protect you from the elements.
If you are planning to stop for a break or enjoy a picnic outdoors, we also recommend bringing an insulated seat pad for extra comfort.
