Nevelfjell
When: December- April
Get out in the back-country and explore some of the more rugged areas of Øyerfjellet.
A great trip in summer, and equally great in the winter! Even with the lack of freshly groomed tracks, Nevelfjell remains a viable option even on cross county skis. The summit lies around 3,5 km from Pellestova and can be reached via a number of different routes.
One way is to follow the groomed tracks down the southern edge of Reinsvatnet, turning off wherever you want to, and beginning your ascent to the summit from there.
Another option is to follow the groomed track towards Gaiastova, crossing the big car park by Ilsætra and making your way to the top of Nevelfjell via Slåsæterfjell.
From the top (1089 m.a.s.l.) you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of both the Rondane and Jotunheim mountain ranges. If the weather takes a turn for the worse you can seek shelter in the small Red Cross cabin at the top which is always open.
On the way back you can ski down the other side of Nevelfjell and follow the groomed Trolløypa back to Pellestova.
