Hafjell Loop

Cross-Country Ski Route

Route Information

Season: December – April
Distance: 5 km

The Hafjell Loop starts right outside Pellestova and offers a scenic cross-country skiing experience through varied and easy-going terrain. For the best flow, we recommend following the trail to the left of Pellekroa, although it is also possible to start in the direction of Ilsetra.

Much of the route winds through gently rolling landscapes, with well-groomed tracks and beautiful natural surroundings. The most demanding section comes near the alpine ski area, where you’ll face a short climb before the trail descends once again towards Nysetra.

The Hafjell Loop passes through sheltered forested areas for much of the journey, making it an excellent choice on windy days or when weather conditions are more challenging.

A perfect blend of forest trails, mountain scenery and well-groomed tracks – ideal for a day on skis.

Recommended Clothing & Equipment

Mountain weather can change quickly, so it is important to be prepared for conditions that may differ from those at the start of your hike.

We recommend dressing according to the three-layer principle, or at the very least carrying extra layers in your backpack. This approach helps you stay warm and comfortable while allowing you to adjust your clothing as temperatures and weather conditions change throughout the day.

The base layer should consist of wool or technical thermal underwear. The middle layer can be a fleece or down jacket for insulation, while the outer layer should be windproof and water-resistant to protect you from the elements.

If you are planning to stop for a break or enjoy a picnic outdoors, we also recommend bringing an insulated seat pad for extra comfort.
