Moksjø Loop
Cycling Route
Route Information
Season: June – October (weather and snow conditions permitting)
Distance: Approximately 19 km
The Moksjø Loop is a varied cycling route that follows mainly wide gravel roads through mountain scenery, forests and beautiful lakeside landscapes. Along the way, you’ll enjoy several viewpoints and a changing landscape that showcases the best of Øyerfjellet.
Starting from Pellestova, follow the gravel road towards Hita until you reach the Sjøseterkrysset junction. From here, the route continues towards Lisætra and down towards Nedre Moksjøen before turning north towards Mosetertoppen.
One of the highlights of the ride is the viewpoint at Utsikten on Mosetertoppen, where you can take in impressive views of the surrounding mountains. From there, the route continues through the forest towards Nysetra. This section is the most demanding part of the loop, featuring rougher terrain and a steeper climb, particularly for those riding without an e-bike.
As you approach Nysetra, the landscape opens up and rewards you with panoramic views towards Langsua, Jotunheimen and Rondane. This is an ideal spot for a break before continuing towards Ilsetra and following the paved road back to Pellestova.
The route is best suited to adults and older children with some cycling experience.
A journey through forests, mountain roads and endless views – cycling at its finest in Øyerfjellet.

Recommended Clothing & Equipment
Mountain weather can change quickly, so it is important to be prepared for conditions that may differ from those at the start of your hike.
We recommend dressing according to the three-layer principle, or at the very least carrying extra layers in your backpack. This approach helps you stay warm and comfortable while allowing you to adjust your clothing as temperatures and weather conditions change throughout the day.
The base layer should consist of wool or technical thermal underwear. The middle layer can be a fleece or down jacket for insulation, while the outer layer should be windproof and water-resistant to protect you from the elements.
If you are planning to stop for a break or enjoy a picnic outdoors, we also recommend bringing an insulated seat pad for extra comfort.
